Make practicing a habit; practice every day.
I recommend 15 minutes of daily practice time for beginners, adding 5 minutes for year of study building up to 45-60 minutes.
Try to practice at the same time every day.
For beginning students, determining a set daily practice time is a very good way to incorporate the discipline of practice into everyday living. Before school, after supper, when the news comes on…any time that is good for the student and family is a good time. Most students do best when the same time period(s) are used for practice every day.
If you can’t practice your whole time at once, it’s fine to practice more than once a day.
Daily practice time can be spent in one sitting, or in 5 minute or 10 minute sittings several times a day. The object is to spend time each day practicing the assigned material so that the weekly lesson can build on what has been learned in the previous week of practice.
Have FUN!
